Pay Range: $25.00–$29.00 per hour

Collision Auto Parts is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team in San Diego.
This role supports employees and managers across a fast‑paced, multi‑location organization and is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day. The HR Generalist will have primary responsibility for full‑cycle recruiting while also supporting employee relations, payroll and timekeeping, unemployment claims, benefits and 401(k) administration, onboarding, HRIS administration, and other day‑to‑day HR functions.
We are looking for someone who is organized, approachable, comfortable working independently, and able to recognize when sensitive or complex matters should be escalated to HR leadership.
This position will begin as a project‑based assignment with the opportunity to transition into a regular full‑time position based on performance, business needs, and organizational fit.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle recruiting for assigned positions, including job postings, sourcing, applicant review, screening, interview coordination, offers, pre‑employment requirements, and onboarding.
• Serve as an HR resource for employees and managers and conduct initial intake of employee concerns, ensuring information is documented objectively and escalated appropriately.
• Support workplace investigations through initial intake, documentation gathering, interview coordination, note‑taking, and other fact‑finding support as directed by HR leadership.
• Serve as a backup resource for payroll processing, including timecard review, employee changes, payroll discrepancies, and coverage as needed.
• Respond to unemployment insurance claims, gather supporting documentation, track deadlines, and assist with hearings or appeals as needed.
• Support employee benefits and 401(k) administration, including eligibility, enrollment, employee questions, contribution‑related matters, notices, and coordination with payroll and plan providers.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data and process employee changes, transfers, compensation changes, and separations.
• Assist with leave administration, workers' compensation documentation, employment verifications, disciplinary documentation, and other routine HR matters.
• Support HR compliance, audits, reporting, training, and department projects.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriately escalated complex employee relations, payroll, compliance, or benefit matters to HR leadership.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience preferred.
• Full‑cycle recruiting experience required.
• Prior payroll and timekeeping experience required, with the ability to provide payroll backup when needed.
• Experience with employee relations intake and supporting workplace investigations preferred.
• Experience responding to unemployment insurance claims preferred.
• Experience with benefits and/or 401(k) administration preferred.
• Working knowledge of HR practices and employment‑related compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting California employees strongly preferred.
• Experience in a distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or other fast‑paced environment is a plus.
• HRIS/payroll system experience required; Paylocity experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and follow‑through skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

We're looking for an HR professional who enjoys being involved in the day‑to‑day work of Human Resources and is comfortable shifting priorities as business needs change.
The right person will be comfortable recruiting candidates, helping an employee with a benefits or 401(k) question, responding to an unemployment claim, reviewing a timekeeping issue, completing an employee relations intake, or stepping in as payroll backup when needed.
You should be organized, responsive, dependable, approachable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work while knowing when an issue requires HR leadership involvement.
