Job summary

Tri-Cities Chaplaincy in Richland, WA is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to manage day-to-day HR operations including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, leaves, benefits support, compliance, and records. Reporting to the HR Supervisor, you will partner with supervisors and staff to ensure policies align with laws and the agency values while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Two years of progressive HR experience; equivalent education considered.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification or willingness to obtain within 24 months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license; driving is an essential function and must meet insurance eligibility.
  • This position is designated as Safety Sensitive; must pass a pre-employment drug screen including cannabis testing in Washington State.
  • Ability to report to the assigned work location(s) as scheduled and maintain consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day HR administration: recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and leave administration.

Position Overview

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day administration and core HR functions, including recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, leave administration, benefit support, HR compliance, and employee records management. This role serves as a key operational partner to supervisors and employees while ensuring HR practices align with agency policies, employment laws, and agency values. The HR Generalist works under the direction of the HR Supervisor and exercises sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in all matters.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive HR experience. Equivalent education and experience considered.
  • Professional certification from SHRM or HRCI or willing to obtain within twenty-four (24) months of employment
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $28.00- $34.13/hour

Note Regarding The Listed Pay Range: The starting pay range offered to new hires, depending on experience and qualifications. At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, we carefully establish pay ranges for our positions by taking various factors into account, including education, certifications, knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions. These ranges are tailored to match the diverse programs and services we offer. Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for candidates based on these factors while maintaining internal peer equity.

  • Mileage Reimbursements $0.72 per mile, for eligible positions.
  • Vacation: Accrual of hours each pay period based on hours worked.
  • Wellness Days: After the 90-day introductory period, eligible employees can convert up to two sick days into wellness days.

Agency Requirements

  • Policy Compliance: Maintain knowledge of and comply with agency policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Confidentiality: Protect patient and agency information per HIPAA guidelines. Only access information on a need-to-know basis.
  • Transportation: Maintain reliable personal transportation. Maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance per state requirements.
  • Health Requirements: Satisfy state and agency health requirements by providing proof of immunization, declinations, or approved accommodations as applicable.
  • Screenings: Pass criminal background and drug screenings.
  • Physical Demands: Meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.(see attached physical requirements)
  • Training and Orientation: Complete agency and departmental orientation and required training programs.
  • Continuing Education: Complete ongoing education, policy reviews, and training be designated deadlines.
  • Licensure and Certification: Maintain current licensure(s) and certifications(s) required for the role.
  • Language Proficiency: Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Work Availability: Be available to work as assigned or scheduled.
