Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, finding, screening and hiring qualified candidates for staff and faculty position openings, onboarding, and other generalist tasks. This is a full-time position that reports to LSCPA’s Human Resources Department.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract a pool of qualified candidates
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify job requirements and draft detailed, compliant job descriptions
  • Post all jobs via the college’s applicant tracking system (ATS)
  • Monitor candidate pool to determine need, if applicable, of recruitment advertising
  • Build scoring criteria based upon bona fide occupational requirements per the posted job description for hiring manager review and approval
  • Utilize the blind scoring process to determine which candidates are best qualified to interview
  • Draft interview questions for hiring manager review and approval before application
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews with hiring managers and their interview committee members
  • Complete all pre-employment checks (references and criminal history); ensuring campus standards are maintained
  • Suggest starting salaries to hiring manager within campus guidelines and job posting range; partner with HR leadership to ensure alignment
  • Obtain internal approvals to hire and then extend offers of employment to final candidates
  • Ensure new hire paperwork and other onboarding items are complete
  • Maintain regular communication with hiring manager regarding status of candidates and positions
  • Dispose job postings and candidates within the ATS
  • Facilitate the successful and welcoming onboarding of new hires; partnering closing with the hiring manager and other support departments to ensure all are well-prepared for the new hire’s first day
  • Perform check-ins with new hires to help ensure retention
  • Track and report efficacy of recruitment advertising
  • Keep abreast of trends and recruiting techniques to remain competitive
  • Maintain HR job site and ATS, ensuring notices, templates and other items are up-to-date and branded accordingly
  • Participate in job fairs, as needed, and other proactive recruiting activities
  • Provide consistent and superb customer service, remembering at all times of the impact this role has on a candidate’s first impression and experience with the college
  • Assist in maintenance of Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring employee compliance
  • Assist with administration of the Work Compensation Program, including claim submission
  • Comply with campus policies and procedures
  • Other related duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in Human Resources
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher education work experience
  • Prior experience as an HR Generalist or Recruiter
  • Banner ERP experience

Physical Requirements

This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
