Job summary

Job description

The Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to help manage HR systems, processes, and day-to-day people operations in support of the organization’s mission. This role works under supervision of the General Counsel and the Advisor of Governmental Affairs, while also providing input to the CEO/President on employment-related matters. Based in Pittsburgh, PA, the position supports hybrid remote work and focuses on HR administration, compliance support, and HRIS/data-entry responsibilities.

Key responsibilities
  • Serve as a point of HR support to the Center’s CEO/President, with direct supervision by the General Counsel and Advisor of Governmental Affairs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain human resource systems, practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide input to the General Counsel and Advisor of Governmental Affairs on employment-related issues.
  • Apply knowledge to identify legally defensible solutions aligned with CORE values.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve the HR department’s efficiency.
  • Maintain and manage personnel records.
  • Administer and process leaves of absence, and administer and coordinate the annual employee performance review process.
  • Support HR tasks including tracking role-specific requirements and needs, such as scheduling lab work and processing clearance verifications and reverifications for clinical staff.
  • Assist with administration of worker’s compensation, FMLA, Unemployment Compensation, long-term disability, and short-term disability claims.
  • Perform HRIS data entry and related HRIS responsibilities.
  • Manage paperwork for Per Diem contractors.
  • From time to time, complete other job-related functions assigned by the President/CEO or the General Counsel and Advisor of Governmental Affairs.
Requirements
  • Primary duty must involve performing work requiring advanced knowledge of a field of science or learning, with consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.
  • Ability to work proactively rather than reactively.
  • Use advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts and circumstances.
  • Oversee duties with potential authority to recommend employment actions including hiring, termination, promotion, or change of status.
  • Post high school education, preferably a bachelor’s degree in an area of specialty, or equivalent advanced knowledge gained through work experience and intellectual instruction.
  • Expected to obtain an HR Certification within 2 years of hire.
  • Human Resources experience: 1 year (required).
