The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a detail‑oriented HR Administrative Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Oswego, SC. The role focuses on ensuring compliant hiring processes and accurate HR records.
You will coordinate background checks for adjunct and temporary staff, manage HRIS and ATS systems, and support onboarding, benefits enrollment, and unemployment claims. Strong organizational skills and discretion are essential.
Coordinate background checks for adjunct faculty and temporary employees, complete SC Hire processing to ensure compliance with state hiring requirements, and support new employee setup and data entry within the Banner Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Administer and maintain the College's Applicant Tracking System (NeoEd) to support efficient and compliant recruitment operations. Create, post, and manage part‑time employment opportunities across approved recruitment platforms. Maintain accurate employee records by scanning, indexing, and organizing personnel documents within the HRIS. Maintain documentation for temporary employees, assist with new hire onboarding and benefits enrollment, and support performance management processes by preparing and maintaining required documentation. Provide administrative support for employment‑related transactions by processing employment verification requests and managing unemployment insurance claims, including required documentation and communication with state agencies. Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and the Human Resources Department by coordinating calendars, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and supporting materials, arranging meeting space and logistics, securing catering for college events, and developing and distributing the department's monthly HR newsletter. Ensure the efficient coordination of departmental activities and promote effective communication across the College.
A high school diploma and clerical or administrative experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 2 or more years of experience in HR Generalist functions and experience with HRIS systems and applicant tracking systems.
