Job summary

InterCare Community Health Network is seeking a Human Resources Generalist in Bangor, MI. The role manages daily HR operations, recruitment, onboarding, and employee data in HRIS. You will support policy interpretation, compliance, and employee relations while contributing to a positive workplace culture.

The position offers full-time hours, Monday–Friday, with a comprehensive benefits package including PTO, holidays, tuition reimbursement, medical, dental, and vision coverage.

InterCare is searching for a Full-Time HR Generalist to join our team! Work Schedule: Hours are typically Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department.

  • Responsible for managing recruitment for open positions at InterCare.
  • Ensures Onboarding components are completed in time for New Hire Orientation.
  • Enters and maintains all updated employee information in the HRIS correctly (including but not limited to position code, EEO, workers compensation codes, and standardized job titles).
  • Send and review 30, 60, 90-day reviews and monitor and review employee performance processes.
  • May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of of multiple areas in the department.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assists in developing, communicating, and interpreting HR policies and procedures to all employees and assigned managers with guidance from the HR Management.
  • Monitor and audit internal programs, produce written reports identifying improper procedures or documentation, research issues, and make recommendations to improve policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a business partner to managers and executives with proper direction from the HR Management Team.
  • Cross-trained in other areas of Human Resources such as credentialing, onboarding, benefits, payroll, leave administration, student management, recruiting and special projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Professional and Technical Knowledge

  • Possesses a thorough understanding of theory and practices of human resources, typically acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree program or extensive practical experience in a human resources department.
  • Minimum of 2-years of solid general HR experience required.
  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge in employment law, compensation, and employee relations required.
  • Intermediate competency with database management and other HRIS software required.
  • Prior experience in a health care setting preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use clerical and numerical skills in preparing final drafts and documents from raw data.
  • Ability to create letters, forms, documents, presentations.
  • Ability to run reports, analyze and interpret data, assist in implementation and maintenance of HR systems.

Communication Skills

  • Possesses a professional level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex concept in a clear effective manner.
  • Possesses excellent cross cultural communication skills and the ability to communicate to staff members at all levels.

Physical Demands

Job duties are performed in the typical office environment of the organization, which requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations. The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following:

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, reach with arms & hands, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and manipulate (using keyboard, office equipment).
  • Visual acuity to use keyboard, operate office equipment, and read printed material and regularly required to talk and hear.
