Qualifications

Job description

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) provides day-to-day Human Resources (HR) support to assigned business stakeholders and plays a key role in maintaining effective, responsive, and compliant HR operations. The HRG responds to employee inquiries; supports onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, HR transactions, and reporting; applies established company policies and procedures; and escalates complex or sensitive matters as appropriate. The role gathers and interprets HR and workforce data to provide actionable insights, support decision‑making, and prepare accurate reports. In a fast-paced environment, the HRG effectively manages shifting, competing, and changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness. The HRG leverages HR systems, reporting tools, and other technology solutions to improve productivity, enhance service delivery, and support process efficiency and continuous improvement. The HRG partners closely with employees, operational leaders, business stakeholders, and the broader HR team to support departmental initiatives, organizational objectives, and the ongoing development of HR knowledge and professional skills.

  • Assist employees with inquiries and the interpretation of HR policies, procedures, and established practices
  • Support onboarding for new hires and track completion of required documents and tasks (e.g., onboarding checklists, I-9 verification, policy acknowledgements, welcome communications)
  • Build rapport with operational stakeholders and develop an understanding of program-specific workforce needs
  • Generate and distribute accurate and timely employee correspondence as applicable
  • Support routine employee relations matters and elevate complex or sensitive issues to HRBP
  • Conduct employee out‑processing and complete required termination documentation as applicable
  • Serve as a liaison between HR and other departments regarding personnel actions
  • Manage HR service center ticket actions and related follow‑up actions for assigned stakeholders
  • Gather, organize, and communicate HR and workforce data to identify trends, support business decisions, and prepare accurate reports
  • Validate data for accuracy and maintain reporting integrity across HR systems and records
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and effectively adjust to changing business needs, deadlines, and operational requirements while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and appropriate communication
  • Respond to unemployment claims and/or participate in hearings as needed
  • Support labor relations activities and assist with the administration and/or interpretation of collective bargaining agreement (CBA) provisions as directed
  • Work collaboratively with HR team members on department projects and training activities
  • Compile data from personnel records and prepare reports as directed
  • Participate in and when assigned, lead departmental initiatives or projects as a contributing team member
  • Assist with continuous improvement of the HR processes, controls, and team workflows
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate handling of all personnel information and records
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of professional experience in HR or related field required
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including the ability to use Excel or similar tools to organize, analyze, and present information required
  • Ability and willingness to learn and use HR systems, reporting tools, automation, and other technology to improve productivity and process efficiency
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time, shifting, competing, and conflicting priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, interpret, and communicate data in a clear and actionable manner
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process to translate into actionable recommendations
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality, and appropriately elevate sensitive or complex matters
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Experience with HRIS, Deltek Costpoint, ADP, and related HR technology platforms preferred
  • Experience supporting employee relations and workplace investigations preferred
  • Labor relations experience in a unionized environment preferredExperience supporting federal contractor, government services, security, defense, or other highly regulated environments preferred
  • Experience using HR reporting, data visualization, workflow, automation, or case‑management tools preferred
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed, multi‑state highly regulated workforce preferred

Working Conditions

Work is typically based in a busy office environment with prolonged computer use and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
