The Town of Groton, Connecticut is seeking a proactive, collaborative, and versatile professional to serve as a Human Resources Generalist within our Human Resources Department. In this key role, you will help drive operational excellence while supporting a wide range of human resource functions that contribute to an effective and responsive workplace. The ideal candidate will provide high-level support to the department’s leadership team, assist with and research project initiatives, support recruitment efforts, and help ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This position also requires the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion while contributing to a positive, organized, and efficient work environment. This is a non-union, full-time position.
The Human Resources Generalist performs responsible and confidential human resource work in any of the following functional areas: recruitment, selection, employee records, data analysis, information systems management, training, compliance, employee programs, risk, safety, and/or communications. The position will also be responsible for data assessment and maintenance, related research projects and initiatives, and employee engagement opportunities as assigned. A knowledge of, and ability to apply, State and Federal employment laws necessary.
The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business or Public Administration, or a closely related field with a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible human resources experience. A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of the stated educational and experience requirements.
Criminal background, drug testing, and driving record checks required prior to employment.
Must possess and maintain a Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
PHR, SHRM-CP, or other human resource certification.
