Job summary

Wolverine Human Services is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and compliance in a nonprofit environment. This full-time, on-site role is based in Michigan with occasional travel between agency locations.

You will partner with staff and leadership to deliver professional HR services. This position offers the opportunity to expand HR systems knowledge and contribute to a mission-driven team focused on compliant, employee-focused workplace

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years progressive HR experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field preferred.
  • Experience with employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
  • Experience using HRIS systems and applicant tracking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for employee and applicant HR inquiries.
  • Provide guidance regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Support recruitment efforts including communications, interview scheduling, hiring events, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation activities.
  • Conduct or assist with employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Prepare corrective action documents and maintain confidential personnel records.
  • Assist with HRIS administration, employee status changes, and reporting.
  • Support benefits administration, leave management, and employment verifications.
  • Monitor compliance with licensing, certifications, mandatory training, and employment regulations.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and HR documentation.
  • Assist with audits, policy implementation, and HR projects.
  • Provide cross-functional support across all HR functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Experience with employee relations and workplace investigations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism
  • Experience using Microsoft 365, HRIS systems, and applicant tracking systems
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

This is a full-time position primarily based in an office environment with occasional travel between agency locations to support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, and other Human Resources initiatives. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on operational needs.
