Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking an HR Generalist to serve as a key contact for employees and line management, guiding policy interpretation, employee relations, performance management, and compliance. Human Resources Generalist - Onsite

Job Summary

The HR Generalist serves as a key point of contact for employees and line management, providing guidance across policy interpretation, employee relations, performance management, and compliance. This role executes core HR operational tasks including recruitment support, onboarding/offboarding, training administration, and payroll-related reporting while ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary HR resource and consultant for employees and managers, providing guidance, interpretation, development, implementation, and communication regarding company policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries and routine issues, providing guidance on disputes, investigations, productivity, recognition, morale, and organizational planning; refer or elevate complex and sensitive matters to appropriate staff.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions), while supporting employee recognition programs.
  • Support Talent Acquisition and hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications, and partner with the HR team on new hire orientation, onboarding, and offboarding as it relates to payroll and benefits.
  • Review policies and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommended best practices; track and document mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, occupational health and safety, and work assessments.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute core human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, leave, time off, and ad hoc HR projects or reports.
  • Coordinate and process employment and wage verifications, unemployment claims, quarterly tax verifications, wage garnishments, child support orders, and other payroll or employment-related administrative matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies across human resources, talent management, and employment law. Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable legal requirements.
  • Assist with employment verifications, unemployment claims, and other payroll or employment-related administrative matters as needed.
  • Dayforce/HRIS, HR process development, employee communications, HR reporting, vendor coordination, FMLA/leave administration, international HR support, policy implementation, manager coaching, and HR program development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of progressive human resources experience preferred,
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to regularly visit and interact with employees across company facilities and departments.
