Responsibilities

  • Provide daily administrative support to the Human Resources department.
  • Assist with recruiting for production, warehouse, maintenance, administrative, and other openings.
  • Post job vacancies, review applications, schedule interviews, and communicate with applicants.
  • Support new-hire onboarding, orientation, and completion of required employment documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and electronic HR records.
  • Enter and update employee information in HR, payroll, timekeeping, and attendance systems.
  • Track attendance, absences, and time-off requests, including associated documentation.
  • Respond to general HR questions and route more complex needs to the appropriate HR team member.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment, employee communications, and distribution of HR materials.
  • Maintain training records and coordinate required employee training.
  • Support employee engagement activities, recognition programs, meetings, and company events for HR and management.
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, and other HR documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable employment requirements.

Job description

Cardinal Foods is hiring a Human Resources Generalist to support the HR department at its food manufacturing facility in Burgaw, North Carolina. This onsite role is designed for hands-on HR support across day-to-day administration, recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee records, attendance tracking, training documentation, and internal communications.

The position offers an annual salary of USD 50,000 - 75,000 and focuses on supporting staffing and employee needs while helping maintain accurate, confidential HR documentation and compliance with company policies and employment requirements.

What you’ll do

Required qualifications

Preferred qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, or applicant-tracking systems.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, food production, warehousing, or a similar environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

Work environment and safety expectations

This role is primarily office-based within a food manufacturing facility. The HR Assistant will regularly interact with employees throughout the site and may occasionally enter production, warehouse, or other operational areas. When entering those areas, employees must follow all applicable food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and personal protective equipment requirements.
