Job Summary

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Alhambra, CA with a mission-driven nonprofit charitable organization. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys supporting employees, partnering with leadership, improving HR processes, and helping build a positive workplace culture.

The Human Resources Generalist will support daily HR operations across recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, employee relations, compliance, performance management, communications, and workplace safety. Key Responsibilities
  • Support full-cycle recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, exit interviews, terminations, unemployment claims, and related documentation.
  • Administer payroll, timecards, employee record updates, benefits programs, HRIS data, personnel files, and required HR reporting.
  • Advise managers and employees on HR policies, employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, accommodations, and workplace concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, wage and scheduling requirements, company policies, and HR best practices.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, wellness, recognition, training, internal communications, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Assist with workplace safety programs, incident investigations, OSHA recordkeeping, workers' compensation reporting, and safety training compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible human resources experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of employment-related laws, regulations, HR compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, or related HR software.
  • Experience supporting payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and HR reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR operations in a nonprofit, education, charitable, or mission-driven environment preferred.
  • Experience with wage and scheduling compliance for part-time employees or adjunct professors preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay rate: $28.00 to $30.00 per hour.
  • Job type: Temp-to-Hire.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday.
  • Location: Alhambra, CA.
