Job summary

The Humane Society of Missouri is seeking a Human Resources Director to lead all HR functions, guide managers, and steward a people-first culture. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of HR management or director-level experience, strong knowledge of employment law, benefits programs, and payroll administration.

You will build strong relationships, stay impeccably organized, and communicate clearly across teams while shaping policies, recruitment for veterinary and leadership roles,

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of HR management or director-level experience.
• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required.
• Excellent relationship-building, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise managers on employee issues and employee relations activities.
• Ensure compliance with employment law and benefits programs.
• Oversee benefits administration for medical, disability, life and FSA plans.
• Manage ADP payroll/benefits/time-off modules.
• Handle disciplinary actions and FMLA administration.
• Oversee workers' compensation and incident reporting.
• Recruiting and interviewing for veterinarians and management positions.
• Create or update policies for the employee handbook.
• Oversee compensation management and salary structures.
• Respond to unemployment or discrimination claims.
• Address OSHA-related inquiries and activities.
• Plan and implement employee appreciation events.
• Supervise training initiatives for staff.

The Humane Society of Missouri has a long history of helping animals find their forever homes. We are looking for a new HR Director who will serve the people who help our animals. Our current Director is retiring.
The outstanding candidate will have at least 5 years of manager or director level experience in HR, with knowledge/experience in:

• ADP payroll/benefits/time off modules
• Disciplinary action
• FMLA Administration
• Workers' compensation including incident reporting

• Creating or changing policies for the employee handbook
• Compensation management
• Responding to unemployment or discrimination claims
• Responding to any OSHA complaints or activity
• Planning and implementing employee appreciation events
• Experience in supervisory training is a plus
