Director, Human Resources Business Parter
SAUSALITO, CA (hybrid)
Serena & Lily is seeking a strategic and business-focused Director, Human Resources Business Parter to serve as a key people partner and catalyst for organizational excellence. In this role, you will be the primary HR business partner for our headquarters employee population, driving talent management and people initiatives that directly impact business success. Additionally, you will partner with HR leadership to lead special projects that support enterprise-wide talent, organizational development, and people strategy initiatives.
This is a hands-on strategic role that blends business partnership with direct execution of talent management, talent development, workforce planning, and learning and development strategy. You’ll be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, an advocate for employees, and a driving force in shaping our organizational culture and capability.
Based in our Sausalito office, you will be on-site 2-3 days per week and report to the SVP, HR and Talent.
Responsibilities:
HR Business Partnership & Organizational Leadership
- Serve as the strategic HR business partner for headquarters leadership, providing guidance on talent, organizational development, employee relations, and people strategy
- Build strong relationships with business leaders across the headquarters organization, understanding their business objectives and translating them into people strategies
- Lead employee relations initiatives, performance management, and organizational development for the 200-person headquarters population
Talent Management & Talent Development
- Lead comprehensive talent management strategy including succession planning, high-potential identification, and critical role mapping
- Execute talent development programs, coaching, and mentorship initiatives to build leadership capabilities
- Oversee individual development plans, career pathing, and advancement opportunities for emerging talent
Workforce Planning & Organizational Effectiveness
- Lead workforce planning initiatives including headcount forecasting, organizational design, and capacity modeling
- Partner with business leaders to align staffing models with strategic priorities and business needs
- Analyze organizational trends, identify capability gaps, and recommend solutions to support business objectives
- Execute the company’s learning and development strategy, designing and delivering training programs that support employee development and business needs
- Develop leaders at all levels through targeted coaching, assessment, and development programs
- Measure L&D program effectiveness and ROI; continuously enhance offerings based on business impact and employee feedback
Enterprise-Wide HR Projects & Initiatives
- Lead and support special HR projects that have company-wide impact, such as organizational restructures, cultural initiatives, or new HR programs
- Partner with SVP, HR and Talent to drive strategic HR initiatives across the enterprise
- Influence and align multiple departments to achieve HR and organizational development objectives
- Manage and develop the Facilities Coordinator, providing mentorship and support
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4-5 years in a strategic HR business partner or similar role
- Demonstrated expertise in talent management, talent development, learning and development, and workforce planning
- Track record of designing and executing strategic initiatives that drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and ability to translate business strategy into people strategy
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influence skills; comfort presenting to senior leadership
- Experience leading and managing direct reports; ability to develop and mentor talent
- Excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Commitment to employee advocacy and ethical HR practices

Nice to Have
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer brands; SHRM certification
- Experience leading organizational development or change management initiatives
- Familiarity with HR technology platforms, data analytics tools, or executive coaching experience
Compensation
- $160-180k per year is the anticipated starting base pay for this role. This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this role. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as experience, education, and skills.
- This role is eligible for performance-based bonus compensation and equity

Employees can enroll in our company's 401k plan. During the first year of employment, full-time employees accrue twenty-one days of PTO and seven paid holidays throughout the year.
