Job summary

Sidley Austin LLP is seeking an entry-level Human Resources Coordinator in Washington, DC. You will provide administrative support to the HR team and help execute day-to-day HR operations under supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn HR information systems and other business applications.
  • Up to two years of administrative, customer service, HR, or related experience; internship experience may be considered.

  • Support offboarding activities including departure protocols and exit interviews.
  • Respond to routine employee inquiries about HR procedures.

  • Assist with compliance activities and HR projects as needed.
  • Schedule meetings for HR leadership and coordinate communication with professionals.

The Human Resources Coordinator is an entry-level individual contributor who provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team in Washington, D.C. This role helps ensure the efficient execution of day-to-day HR operations by performing routine administrative and coordination activities while delivering responsive, high-quality service to business professionals, managers, and lawyers.Working under close supervision and in tandem with the HR Specialists, the Human Resources Coordinator follows established policies, procedures, and workflows to support core HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle.Duties and Responsibilities:This position is an entry support-level individual contributor.Provides organizational and administrative support to maintain the efficiency of daily business operations.Spends the majority of time delivering support to the HR Team including, Specialists, Analysts, Manager, and Director, and completing operational HR activities under close supervision.Coordinates onboarding activities for new hires, including orientation scheduling, new hire paperwork initiation and follow-up, and system updates, accordingly. Supports new hire training coordination with internal departments, including but not limited to IT, A/V, Secretarial Services, and Facilities.Coordinates offboarding activities, including initiating departure protocols and scheduling exit interviews.Responds to routine employee inquiries regarding HR Procedures and escalating more complex matters, as appropriate.Update spreadsheets and trackers used by the HR team.Assist with compliance activities, including required federal, state, and local employment postings and recordkeeping.Works with HR Specialists and Manager to execute employee engagement programs and events sponsored by the Human Resources Department.Provide administrative support for HR projects, reporting, audits, and other departmental initiatives, including but not limited to gathering documents, printing, and assembly.Communicate pre-approved correspondences to business professionals and lawyers.Coordinate and schedule meetings for HR Manager and Director.Ability to follow detailed instructions.Maintain confidentiality of personal identifiable information and other employee sensitive information.Maintains files on notaries and sends reminders regarding notary annual reports.Assists HR Management with related projects as needed.Assists with other projects as required and assigned.Education and/ or Experience:Required:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to learn HR information systems and other business applicationsPreferred:Up to two years of administrative, customer service, Human Resources, or related experience; internship experience may be considered.Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment.Other Skills and Abilities:The following will also be required of the successful candidate:Strong organizational and time management skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to manage multiple routine tasks while meeting deadlines.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Customer service orientation with professional interpersonal skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.Ability to follow established procedures and work instructions.Demonstrated dependability and accountability.Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.Proficiency in proofreading and document review.Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and HR practices.#LI-EC1The target salary range for this role is:$50,000 - $62,400 if located in Washington, D.C.Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
