HR Administration & Operations
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR records.
- Process employee status changes, new hire documentation, separations, and organizational updates in HRIS system and personnel records.
- Assist with preparation of HR reports and workforce metrics, including completion of routine monthly and quarterly reports
- Respond to routine employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, procedures, and HR processes.
- Support internal and external audits and reporting by gathering required documentation.
- Respond to employment verification requests and other HR-related inquiries
- Support HR projects and department initiatives.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly reporting for Mary Ryder Home union.
- Maintain strong relationships with HR vendors, brokers, stakeholders, and union representatives.
Payroll Coordinator
- Serve as primary administrator for agency payrolls, ensuring payroll is prepared and submitted according to established payroll schedules for Provident and Mary Ryder Home (2 separate payroll schedules).
- Collect, review, and enter and/or verify payroll information, including hours worked, paid time off, extended sick leave, overtime, bonuses/incentive pay, and payroll adjustments.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies prior to submitting payroll for approval.
- Maintain payroll records, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Process employee wage changes, direct deposit updates, tax withholding elections, and employment status changes.
- Respond to payroll-related employee requests and answer employee questions regarding pay, deductions, tax forms, and payroll procedures.
- Coordinate payroll deductions for benefits, 401(k) contributions, garnishments, and other authorized deductions.
- Submit completed payroll reports and supporting documentation to the Human Resources Generalist and Business Office, including but not limited to: live check report, garnishments, United Way donations, Union/Cope fees, and 401K deductions.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate job postings, applicant tracking, and interview scheduling.
- Support hiring managers with interviews, logistics, and recruitment tracking.
- Facilitate pre-employment activities, including background check, drug testing, and I-9 verification.
- Prepare offer letters and onboarding materials for new hires.
- Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Maintain applicant tracking system data and reporting
- Promote positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process
Benefits & Retirement Support
- Process employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Assist employees with benefits-related questions and direct issues to appropriate vendors when needed.
- Support administration of the company's 401(k) program, including employee communications and enrollment support.
- Facilitate and promote ongoing employee benefits communications to drive awareness of benefits package
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Co-facilitate Workplace Culture & Inclusion Committee meetings and activities with HR Team.
- Assist in planning company events and employee appreciation activities.
- Support workplace culture and inclusion initiatives, including but not limited to employee recognition programs (birthdays and work anniversaries) and engagement initiatives (All staff meetings and celebrations).
Work Conditions and Environment
- This position primarily works out of Provident’s St. Louis City office at 2650 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63103.
- Work schedule is 40 work hours per week, with scheduled hours typically falling between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Position may be able to work remotely up to 40% of time (2 days per week) when workday does not require in person meetings.
- Reliable transportation is needed to travel to all Provident offices, community-based locations, and other locations in the community, when needed.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
- Ability to navigate office spaces and community-based locations independently
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent blend of education/coursework, training, and experience will be considered in lieu of degree completion.
- 1 to 3 years of human resources, recruiting, payroll, and benefits administration required
- Experience working with HRIS programs, including payroll features, recruitment applicant tracking, and employee data management in software platforms such as IPS/Anova/UKG or similar systems
Licenses/Certifications:
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and/or aPHR (Associate Professional in Human Resources) preferred, but not required
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred, but not required
Other Skills Required
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and HRIS platforms.
- Strong data entry, auditing, reconciliation, and reporting capabilities.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational, time management, and administrative skills.
- Ability to maintain strictest level of confidentiality of employee, payroll, and agency information
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Reliable, consistent, and accurate work.
- Knowledgeable of local, state, and federal employment and payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance of Provident’s practices.

Provident’s H uman Resources Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for all Human Resources functions at Provident Behavioral Health . This position is responsible for recruiting , onboarding, benefits administration support, payroll , employee communications, HR data management, compliance documentation , employee engagement initiatives, and day-to-day HR operations. The HR Coordinator serves as a key resource for employees and ensures accurate and timely execution of HR processes. This position supports Provident’s workforce of 100+ employees , ensuring we can achieve our mission of increasing access to quality behavioral health services, especially for those with the greatest need.
