EDEN HOUSING INC in Hayward, CA is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support day-to-day HR operations, with emphasis on leave of absence administration and workers' compensation claims.

You will coordinate with management, payroll, benefits, and employees; manage state disability, FMLA, and related documentation; ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance; and assist with training and procedural updates.

Qualifications

  • One year of leave processing experience, or an equivalent of three years of related work experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred), with effective communication skills for reading, writing, and speaking in both languages.
  • Ability to analyze data and acceptance of the confidential nature of the position.
  • General knowledge of state and federal labor laws and workers' compensation.
  • Experience coordinating and delivering best practices training and development programs.
  • Ability to work professionally with a wide variety of personalities and communicate effectively with employees and managers.
  • Strong skills in presentation, communication (verbal and written), influence, decision-making, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict resolution, and time management.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, think independently, and problem-solve to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Ability to research, analyze, resolve, and follow through on complex cases while meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
  • Flexible, agile, innovative, accurate, detail-oriented, and well organized.

Responsibilities

  • Process state disability claims and related audits.
  • Prepare termination paperwork for departing staff, as needed.
  • Determine FMLA eligibility and send the appropriate correspondence regarding an employee’s leave of absence request status.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, managers, benefits, and payroll to coordinate employee accommodations, restrictions, pay, and benefits.
  • Interpret company policies and governmental regulations impacting leave procedures, staying current on changes affecting leaves, workers compensation, and OSHA.
  • Analyze results, investigate issues, and resolve discrepancies as appropriate.
  • Record changes in the payroll system in a timely manner.
  • Communicate leave-related changes to employees, including updates to benefits and pay.
  • Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping for leave of absences, including wages to be paid.
  • Coordinate with bi-weekly payroll processing to ensure paid and unpaid time off is entered correctly for employees on leave of any length.
  • Engage with employees who request ergonomic assessments.
  • Create and/or maintain leave procedures in conjunction with the Employee Relations Manager.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Human Resources Ops and VP of Human Resources.
  • Support implementation of new procedures and training.
  • Report workers compensation claims within 24 hours.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of personnel transactions to support operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Send required leave paperwork, process related claims, and track time off for Personal leave, Workers Compensation, FMLA, Parental Leave, and Disability.
  • Act as a point of contact for leave of absence inquiries and participate in the interactive process when needed.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support including creating mailings and payroll attachments, assembling benefit packets, and filing paperwork.
  • Respond to agency requests for personnel-related information and materials.
  • Coordinate with Office Management to send flowers to employees as instructed by management.
  • Assist with additional duties and projects as assigned.
