Job summary

Aurora University is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to serve at the center of the employee experience. You will support onboarding, benefits administration, and employment changes with accuracy and exceptional service.

Qualifications

Position Purpose:

The Human Resources Coordinator is at the center of AuroraUniversity's employee experience.

As one of the first people employees interact with throughout theiremployment journey, this role helps ensure every HR process—fromonboarding and benefits administration to employment changes andoffboarding is delivered accurately, efficiently, and withexceptional customer service.

As part of the Office of People and Culture (OPC), you'll help keepthe department running smoothly by coordinating HR operations,maintaining HR technology systems, supporting employee engagementinitiatives, administering employment transactions, and ensuringcompliance with critical HR processes. Your work will directlysupport faculty and staff while helping the university deliver anexceptional workplace experience.

Essential Job Functions:

As a Human Resources Coordinator, you'll help administer theoperational side of Human Resources while supporting employeesthroughout the employment life cycle.

  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding activities,ensuring new employees have an outstanding start and departingemployees experience a smooth and professional transition.
  • Administer personnel transactions including new hires,promotions, compensation adjustments, transfers, employment statuschanges, and separations while preparing employment documentationand maintaining accurate HR records.
  • Support benefits administration and HR programs throughemployee communications, system updates, and coordination ofroutine processes.
  • Manage and optimize HR technology systems, including serving asa subject matter expert for NeoEd and Employee Navigator whileleveraging technology and approved AI-enabled tools to improveoperational efficiency.
  • Maintain employee records, HRIS data, compliance documentation,and workforce reports with exceptional accuracy and attention todetail.
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, recognitionprograms, and first-year employee experience activities thatcontribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Assist with departmental operations by supporting payrollprocessing, budget administration, compliance activities, andoperational reporting.
  • Monitor required HR compliance activities, including workplacepostings, required training completion, employment records, andother administrative compliance responsibilities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and operationalefficiency while supporting continuous improvement across theOffice of People and Culture.
  • Partner with colleagues across campus to deliver responsive,accurate, and people-centered HR services.
Essential Job Requirements:
  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree in HumanResources, Business Administration, or a related fieldpreferred.
  • 2-3 years of related administrative or Human Resourcesexperience.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention todetail and the ability to manage multiple prioritiessimultaneously.
  • Demonstrated technology aptitude, including proficiency withMicrosoft Office and the ability to quickly learn HR systems andemerging workplace technologies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communicationskills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitiveemployee information with professionalism and discretion.
Skills:
Preferred Qualifications
  • Human Resources experience supporting onboarding, benefitsadministration, HR operations, or employment records.
  • Experience working with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, orbenefits administration platforms.
  • Experience using business software and technology to improveefficiency and workflow.
  • Higher education or nonprofit experience.
