Job summary

Shive-Hattery is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner with 8+ years of experience to support our architectural and engineering firm. You will partner with leaders, guide employee relations, coaching, performance conversations, and organizational initiatives across Business Units.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive HR experience including HRBP, HR Generalist, or Employee Relations.
• Experience coaching leaders and partnering with senior leadership on complex people matters.
• Ability to balance employee advocacy with business priorities.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.

What You'll Do

Partner with Leaders

• Serve as the primary HR advisor for assigned Business Units.
• Coach People Leaders through employee relations matters, performance conversations, and organizational challenges.
• Provide practical, business-focused guidance on complex employee situations.

Develop Leadership Capability

• Build trusted relationships with leaders at all levels.
• Facilitate leadership discussions, talent reviews, and development planning.
• Support leadership assessments, onboarding, and growth initiatives.

Strengthen Engagement & Culture

• Partner with leaders to turn engagement survey results into meaningful action.
• Conduct stay interviews to identify trends and opportunities.
• Champion an inclusive, high-performing culture aligned with Shive-Hattery's values.

Drive talent & Organizational Effectiveness

• Support succession planning, internal mobility, and talent development strategies.
• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition partners to address workforce needs.
• Identify organizational trends, retention risks, and opportunities to improve team performance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, Employee Relations, or business-facing HR experience.
• Experience coaching leaders and partnering with leadership on complex people matters.
• Ability to balance employee advocacy with business priorities.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• AEC industry experience is a plus.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills.

This position is primarily performed in an office or hybrid environment and may require travel to project sites, other Shive-Hattery office locations or to meet with clients. A full clean driver's license is required. The role involves sitting, standing, and working at a computer for extended periods.
