Job description

Fast Retailing USA, Inc. is the US- based subsidiary of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a leading Japanese multinational retail holding company best known as the parent of Uniqlo, Theory, GU, and several other global apparel brands. We are seeking an HR Generalist to support the Fast Retailing USA business unit - a group of approximately 120 employees spanning functions including Finance, Legal, and IT. Based out of our New York City headquarters in the Meatpacking District, this role is a true generalist partner embedded within a corporate functions environment inside a dynamic global retail organization. You will serve as a trusted first point of contact for employees and managers, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of core HR processes in support of our growing organization.

What You'll Do
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
  • Partner with hiring managers to manage full-cycle recruitment from intake through offer
  • Draft and maintain job descriptions, post open roles, and manage candidate pipelines
  • Conduct phone screens and coordinate interview logistics, ensuring a consistent and professional candidate experience
  • Advise hiring managers on interview best practices, competency-based evaluation, and equitable selection processes
  • Track and report on open requisition status, time-to-fill, and pipeline health for the assigned client group
Employee Lifecycle Management
  • Own the end-to-end onboarding experience for new hires working in our New York City offices, including required Day 1 workspace, equipment, and systems set-up
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and 30/60/90-day check-ins to drive early engagement and retention
  • Manage the full offboarding process for voluntary and involuntary separations, including documentation, exit interviews, and systems coordination
  • Ensure timely, compliant termination processing in partnership with Payroll and Benefits
  • Synthesize exit feedback and share insights with HR leadership to inform retention strategy
Workforce Planning & Talent Management
  • Support headcount tracking and reporting, maintaining accuracy across open roles, backfills, and organizational changes to support presentations and decision-making
  • Lead preparation of materials for semi-annual performance management and multi-rater feedback cycles in line with global calendars and deadlines - manager calibrations, compensation and promotion proposals, and follow-up action tracking
  • Execute manager calibration discussions, maintaining a fair, equitable review, promotion, and compensation administration process
General HR Partnership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ER matters including performance concerns, conduct issues, and interpersonal conflicts
  • Conduct thorough, timely investigations and recommend resolutions in partnership with Legal and senior HR leadership; coach managers on sensitive conversations, progressive discipline, and documentation best practices
  • Monitor ER trends and surface themes to senior HR partners
  • Handle day-to-day employee and manager inquiries on policies, benefits, leave, and compensation, ensuring consistent policy application and flagging risks to senior partners
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and generate ad hoc people analytics reports
  • Execute cyclical compliance training and engagement surveys
  • Provide support for onsite HR-related events
What You'll Bring
  • 6-8 years of progressive HR generalist experience, ideally supporting corporate functions
  • Exposure to retail or consumer-facing organizations is a plus; comfort navigating a fast-paced, global, operationally driven culture is essential
  • Working knowledge of New York employment and federal HR compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ER experience with sound judgment and strong discretion
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience, including sourcing, screening, and partnering with hiring managers through offer stage
  • Process-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities without sacrificing quality
  • Comfortable working with data - pulling reports, identifying discrepancies, and presenting clearly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in MS365 tools (especially Excel and PowerPoint); HRIS experience (Workday, SuccessFactors, or similar) preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; PHR or SHRM-CP a plus
  • Base salary $132,000 - $140,000 *, commensurate with experience
  • Semi-annual performance bonus eligibility
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with fully vested company match
  • Generous PTO and company holidays
  • Employee discount program and clothing allowance
  • Hybrid flexibility following onboarding, with in-office presence expected at least three days per week, with flexibility for increased onsite presence to meet the needs of the business

*The offered salary or salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position.
