Job summary

University of Baltimore is hiring for an on-campus HR administrative role. You will review new hire Workday transactions, verify data, and process onboarding paperwork. Job description

Reporting to the Assistant Director, this position provides administrative and complex clerical support to the Office of Human Resources. Primarily responsible for reviewing new hire Workday employment transactions, verifying accuracy of data, and approving or correcting the transaction. Provides administrative support for the HR office, including phone coverage, managing the HR email in-box, and processing new hire paperwork. Assists with creating and maintaining electronic and paper files and customer service for UBalt hiring departments and employees.

This role will initially be fully on campus, with some telework possible with supervisory approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support to the Office of Human Resources, answering phones, monitoring the office email inbox, and maintaining electronic personnel files. Provides customer service to employees and supervisors related to contract questions, employment policies, time entry, and other job-related questions.
  • Responsible for completion of new hire onboarding paperwork. Is the first point of contact and provides new hires instructions regarding Workday onboarding tasks. Submits required paperwork to the Central Payroll Bureau.
  • Responsible for I-9 process, completing employer section in Workday and tracking new hires who need to complete their 1-9, communicating with the employees, supervisors and contract coordinators.
  • Processes verifications and assists with audit requests.
  • Assists with special events sponsored and/or organized by the Office of Human Resources.
  • Assists in developing and improving business processes. Identifies recurring questions or issues, assists in development of job aids, escalates issues to Assistant Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Three years of clerical experience, including one year in Human Resources.
  • Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Some college coursework in human resources
  • Experience: Work in a human resources department in a college or university

Ability to juggle multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
