Responsibilities

Overview

The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking an organized, dependable, and professional Human Resources Assistant to support the daily operations of our Human Resources Department.

The HR Assistant serves as a front-line resource for employees and visitors while providing administrative support across multiple HR functions. Responsibilities include employee records, onboarding support, recruitment assistance, background checks, employment verifications, pre-employment requirements, HR documentation, ID badges, employee inquiries, and general Human Resources administration.

We are open to candidates at all experience levels, including recent graduates and individuals looking to begin their career in Human Resources. Candidates with relevant education, internship experience, administrative experience, transferable professional skills, or previous HR experience are encouraged to apply.

Previous Human Resources experience is preferred but not required. This position may be an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early career professional looking to gain hands on exposure to multiple areas of HR within a healthcare organization.

Candidates with education or experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management, Psychology, Communications, or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a front-line Human Resources resource for employees, candidates, and visitors
  • Greet employees and visitors, determine their needs, and direct them appropriately
  • Answer telephone calls, take accurate messages, and route calls to the appropriate individual
  • Respond to routine employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and departmental processes and refer more complex matters to the appropriate HR team member
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and Human Resources records
  • Audit employee files and records to ensure required documentation is collected, completed, and appropriately filed
  • Prepare new hire files and ensure required employment documentation is complete
  • Assist with new hire onboarding activities and provide backup support for the onboarding process
  • Assist with recruitment activities, including new hire references, background checks, and candidate pre screening
  • Schedule pre employment physicals and send required notifications
  • Complete criminal background checks and enter or distribute required information to appropriate departments
  • Assist with monthly new hire orientation by preparing packets, materials, and other required documentation
  • Respond to employment verification and reference requests from employees and outside organizations
  • Maintain HR forms, manuals, documents, and other departmental materials
  • Provide employees with departmental forms and assist with completion when necessary
  • Take employee ID photos and support ID badge administration and related recordkeeping
  • Maintain disciplinary action records and distribute required documentation to appropriate parties
  • Assist with employee benefits activities and other Human Resources projects
  • Support the planning and execution of employee events, benefits enrollment activities, organization wide meetings, job and benefit fairs, and employee recognition events
  • Maintain departmental supplies and assist with ordering office and orientation materials
  • Sort and distribute departmental mail and correspondence
  • Maintain an organized and professional Human Resources office environment
  • Maintain the confidentiality of employee, applicant, and organizational information
  • Perform other Human Resources administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management, Psychology, Communications, or a related field preferred
  • Recent graduates and entry level candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Previous Human Resources experience preferred but not required
  • Previous office, administrative, customer service, recruiting, records management, or related professional experience preferred but not required
  • Internship or academic experience related to Human Resources, business, administration, or a related field will be considered
  • Candidates with a combination of relevant education, transferable skills, internship experience, or professional experience are encouraged to apply
  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus

This is a fully onsite Human Resources position within a healthcare environment.

The HR Assistant regularly interacts with employees, candidates, managers, visitors, and outside organizations. The position involves significant computer and administrative work requiring attention to detail and accuracy.

The role may require extended periods of sitting as well as standing, walking, reaching, and handling employee files and departmental materials.
