HR Assistant – Join the Captain Jay’s Growing Team.
Captain Jay’s is rapidly expanding and looking for a detail-oriented, proactive HR Assistant to support our Human Resources department. Position Summary:
As an HR Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting day-to-day HR operations, with a focus on handling employee relations, assisting with payroll and compliance, and supporting the hiring process. You will work closely with leadership, team members, and external partners to help align HR practices with the company’s overall goals. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the recruitment process, including phone screening candidates and sourcing talent through both traditional and creative methods.
- Handle employee relations matters professionally and discreetly, including assisting with conflict resolution, and disciplinary documentation.
- Assist with payroll processing, including managing garnishments and tax payments.
- Collaborate with managers to conduct and track performance reviews and evaluations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Assist in facilitating employee terminations and separations, maintaining professionalism, and proper documentation.
- Conduct background checks and other pre-employment screenings as needed.
- Maintain and manage company property, including cell phones, laptops, iPads, and employee email access.
- Provide administrative support for HR-related tasks and assist in developing HR policies and procedures.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A highly organized and detail-oriented individual with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Someone with a strong sense of discretion, empathy, and professionalism in handling sensitive employee matters.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- 2-5 years of prior experience in HR, employee relations, recruiting, or payroll is a strong plus.
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- 2–5 years of administrative, HR assistant, or related experience is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning new tools.
