HorizonWest Landscape Services Inc is hiring a Human Resources and Payroll Manager to support a growing organization with office and field teams. This hybrid, home-and-office role helps run the full employee lifecycle, from weekly payroll and compliance to hiring, onboarding, and day-to-day people guidance for managers.
What You’ll Do
- Process weekly payroll for office and field employees, including overtime, deductions, and prevailing wage rates on federally funded jobs.
- Support hiring by creating job descriptions, managing job board postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations alongside hiring managers.
- Lead onboarding activities, including I-9 and E-Verify, completion of required tax forms, policy acknowledgments, and Safety Manual orientation.
- Administer ICHRA (Individual Coverage HRA) and other benefits, including employee onboarding into the ICHRA, annual notices, reimbursement substantiation, and COBRA.
- Track PTO and sick leave for all staff and ensure ongoing compliance with company policy.
- Maintain personnel files and support internal audits of employee documentation.
- Manage the employee handbook and recommend policy updates as the company grows.
- Handle workers’ compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work efforts with the insurance carrier.
- Partner with managers on performance reviews, coaching, discipline, separations, and exit interviews.
- Help resolve interdepartmental staff issues and maintain clear communication between office and field teams.
- Keep required postings, new hire reporting, and payroll tax filings on schedule.
- Handle all employee matters with the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
What You Bring
- 4+ years of HR and payroll experience, ideally involving an hourly field workforce.
- Working knowledge of FLSA, I-9, E-Verify, US employment law, and Florida employment requirements.
- Experience running payroll on a platform such as Paycom, Workday, or similar, with a focus on accurate HR recordkeeping.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and the discretion to manage sensitive information.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and demonstrated ability to lead and work across teams.
