Role Summary:
At OneDigital, an HR Generalist is a developing HR professional who manages HR programs and projects partnering with our internal team and clients to advance their business objectives. While remaining objective and independent, HR Generalists conduct research to solve issues, provide recommendations, identify workflows and processes, and support the overall HR team to achieve the client’s results. Responsibilities include executing and optimizing day-to-day HR processes, processing full cycle payroll, implementing strategic and tactical HR plans and processes, while ensuring efficient management of our client’s resources. This position is hybrid and may require local onsite travel to client locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

General HR Duties:

  • Support HR Consultant and clients on all tactical HR matters, including federal, multi-state and local compliance, interpretation of policies and procedures, HR program audits, unemployment and Workers Compensation administration, performance management, hiring and dismissal protocols and support, compensation, labor management, and employee training and development.
  • Manage multi-state payroll and related activities, including wage and overtime calculations, payroll deductions, paycheck advances, bonus runs, commissions, fringe benefit reporting, separation payments, payroll audits, and serve as client representative with state agencies, including setting up new states and local tax jurisdictions as needed.
  • Work on system conversions and implementations related to payroll and time and attendance.
  • Perform benefits administration including enrollments, terminations, COBRA, open enrollment, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Provide remote and on-site consultative support to build strong client relationships.
  • Conduct HR research and assist in developing, implementing, and executing HR policies, procedures, programs, trainings, and other HR services.
  • Manage employee leaves of absence and other workflows to optimize HR functions.
  • Maintain accurate files and data in shared drives.
  • Continuously seek knowledge in HR and business trends, sharing expertise with others.

Client Relationship and Account Management:

  • Collaborate with HR Consultants on client action plans and provide timely information to meet deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management and employees.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce solutions from OneDigital’s team.

Project Management:

  • Prioritize and manage time effectively according to client service plans.
  • Manage workload and changing priorities to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Track time accurately and describe client work performed.
  • Make work assignment recommendations to HR Consultants.
  • Pre-plan and communicate anticipated overages in writing.

Other Key Functions:

  • Follow and improve SOPs, tools, templates, and analytics for consistent client service.
  • Coordinate and execute weekly internal development calls.
  • Support business development with HR expertise.

  • Experience with multistate payroll preferred.
  • SHRM-CP and/or HRCI-PHR certifications highly desirable.
  • Solid HR knowledge, understanding of employment laws, multistate experience ideal.
  • Cross-functional work ability.
  • Proficiency in project management, Microsoft Office, HRIS, Zoom, Teams; payroll systems experience preferred.
