Job summary

Job description

The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration and daily management of the comprehensive human resources function for the entire organization. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment/retention, workforce development plan, compensation and benefits management, payroll administration, employee orientation/onboarding, employment training, performance management, employee relations, employee relations, development and administration of policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance.

Paramount in every aspect of this position is the strict maintenance of confidentiality. All duties must be performed with the understanding that information utilized or created is confidential and may be shared only with authorized personnel. Unless expressly stated otherwise, all information should be presumed confidential.

Essential Functions
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to align HR initiatives with company goals, including workforce planning and organizational development.
  • Talent Management: Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes to attract and retain a qualified mission driven workforce.
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations; identifies and mitigates employment-related risks.
  • Employee Relations: Serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and management on employee relations matters, including performance issues, conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Oversees payroll administration, salary structures, and employee benefit programs to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Performance & Training: Develops and manages performance appraisal systems and workforce development initiatives to promote employee growth, accountability, and engagement.
  • HR Operations & Budget: Manage the HR budget and oversee the department's daily operations.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Degree requirement may be removed in lieu of 20+ years of relevant experience.
Skill, Licensure, and Knowledge Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 7–10+ years in HR, with significant experience in a management or leadership role.
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR certifications are highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and proficiency with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems).
