JobAps in Delaware's Department of Correction HR Office seeks a Human Resource Associate to provide paraprofessional HR services across the hiring process, from reviewing applications to interviewing panels and outreach events.
You will enter transactions in the PHRST system, maintain personnel records, ensure compliance, and support confidential HR operations while coordinating with managers, applicants and staff.
This position will provide human resources services for the Department of Correction Human Resources Office. This position is in the Recruitment & Selection Unit. This unit has departmental responsibility for the hiring and selection process for all positions including but not limited to the Correctional Officers and Probation & Parole Officers. The selected incumbent will provide accurate guidance to managers, employees, applicants, contractors, interns, and others in all phases of the hiring process; reviews and rates employment applications; prepares recruitment plans; serve on interview panels; assists with recruitment events and employment outreach endeavors. This position will be responsible for entering transactions into our PHRST system which impacts human resource and payroll activities.
Paraprofessional human resource work is characterized by the application of human resource laws, rules and regulations, providing technical assistance to employees, applicants and others in standard human resource transactions, human resource services, and maintaining personnel files. Examples of paraprofessional or technical responsibilities typically assigned include, but are not limited to those described in the Essential Functions below.

Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
Pre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process. Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre‑employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.
All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
