Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. seeks a Support Specialist, Human Factors in Orlando to manage client-supplied legal materials and summarize depositions and discovery documents.

You will act as a professional representative in communications with law firms and manufacturers, handling sensitive information with confidentiality. Responsibilities include analyzing depositions and discovery materials, coordinating with clients, and preparing files for transmission to counsel for expert witness

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent coursework in legal studies or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience as a paralegal, legal secretary, or legal assistant in a law firm or legal department.
  • Experience supporting civil litigation matters strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with manufacturers or product liability matters a plus.
  • Proficiency with PACER, Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling of meetings, depositions, and deadlines using shared calendars and project tracking tools.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable legal and procedural rules relevant to client matters.
  • Communicate with the Legal Department regarding subpoenas and related deadlines.
  • Assist with compiling responsive documents to subpoenas, including redactions as needed.

Education

Associate's degree, certificate, or equivalent coursework (legal studies or related work experience preferred).

The Support Specialist, Human Factors position is responsible for providing skilled support services to our operations group in client services. The successful candidate will manage client-supplied materials and review and summarize depositions and discovery documents with a focus on work predominantly with law firms and manufacturers. They will serve as professional representatives of the company through written and verbal communications

Essential Job Functions

Document & Materials Management
  • Receive, organize, log, and maintain client-supplied legal materials including but not limited to pleadings, correspondence, exhibits, and electronic files.
  • Establish, maintain and accurately track document deadlines, follow up on outstanding materials, and provide status updates to supervising attorneys or project managers.
  • Ensure chain-of-custody integrity and confidentiality for all client materials.
Deposition & Discovery Review and Summarization
  • Read, analyze, and prepare concise, accurate summaries of depositions, including witness testimony, exhibits referenced.
  • Identify any gaps, determine additional materials required, and coordinate with clients
  • Review, analyze and prepare concise, accurate summaries of discovery materials including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and responses thereto.
Client & Professional Communications
  • Project a professional company image in all email, phone, video, and written communications.
  • Serve as a responsive and courteous point of contact for law firm clients and manufacturer representatives.
  • Draft professional correspondence, transmittal letters, and follow-up communications on behalf of the consulting team.
  • Exercise sound judgment regarding communication urgency, escalating time-sensitive matters promptly.
  • Track court case status and assist in organizing activities to support case load of more than 100 active cases
  • Prepare files for transmission to clients and opposing counsel in preparation for expert witness depositions and trial appearances
General Legal Support

  • The Salary Range for this position is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements
Physical Demands

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Overtime

There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.

Travel Requirements

This position requires up to 5% local travel. Out-of-the-area and overnight travel may also be required.
