Job summary

Exponent, a premier engineering and scientific consulting firm, is seeking a Human Factors Scientist in Bellevue, WA. You will join a multidisciplinary team addressing human factors, safety management, risk communication, and risk perception across consumer, occupational, and healthcare contexts.

You will manage consulting activities, develop client contacts, conduct research, and contribute to designing and evaluating safety practices.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Human Factors, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Industrial Engineering (emphasis on Human Factors), or a related field.
• Currently based in or willing to relocate to the Bellevue, WA area.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Assertive self-starter who is able to accurately and flexibly work under deadlines.
• Demonstrated mathematical aptitude.
• Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Responsibilities

• Managing a range of consulting activities that involve human factors issues in accidents and accident prevention, such as human perceptual, cognitive, and response capabilities and limitations
• Developing client contacts
• Working on multi-disciplinary projects and providing case management, information processing, and other project support
• Conducting research to obtain and review technical data, scientific literature, regulations, and standards
• Assisting with the design and evaluation of safety management practices and safety information
• Communicating complex analyses clearly and succinctly to non-technical audiences
