Human Capital Strategy Consultant - Team Lead/Task Lead

Job Locations US-VA-Tysons | US-DC-Washington, DC

ID 2026-14523 # of Openings 1

LMI is seeking a Human Capital Strategy Lead to serve as the day-to-day Task Lead for a small consulting team supporting a Navy client's human capital and workforce initiatives. This role combines hands-on consulting delivery with emerging deputy program management responsibilities: organizing and prioritizing the team's work, maintaining execution discipline, serving as a client-facing point of coordination, and ensuring high-quality deliverables are completed on time. The Task Lead will directly oversee two core employee development programs while supporting adjacent workforce retention, recruitment, and organizational effectiveness initiatives. This role is well suited to a high-performing consultant who has demonstrated strong workstream ownership and is ready to expand into small-team leadership and Deputy PM responsibilities.

This position is based in the National Capital Region and follows a hybrid work model: approximately 75% remote and up to 25% onsite at client locations, including the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., and LMI Headquarters in Tysons, Virginia.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors-helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

  • Lead, manage, and organize the day-to-day execution of a small project team. Set priorities, clarify ownership, delegate tasks, conduct regular team check-ins, and drive timely follow-through on commitments.
  • Serve as a client-facing Task Lead and key point of coordination for assigned work. Facilitate meetings and briefings, communicate status and decisions clearly, and build trusted working relationships with Navy, prime contractor, and LMI stakeholders.
  • Support the Program Manager in a deputy capacity by translating client priorities into actionable work plans, tracking milestones and dependencies, maintaining action and risk visibility, and helping manage overall task execution.
  • Own the quality and timeliness of client deliverables. Review team products for accuracy, clarity, consistency, completeness, and executive readiness; provide direction and coaching to improve the final product.
  • Develop and present client deliverables, briefings, analyses, and recommendations. Synthesize quantitative data, qualitative input, and stakeholder perspectives into concise findings and practical courses of action.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and sustainment of two core employee development programs, including surveys, data analysis, findings and recommendations, operational materials, communications, and process automation.
  • Establish, document, and maintain repeatable operating processes, trackers, schedules, and annual update cycles that improve team organization, accountability, and delivery consistency.
  • Coordinate across LMI, the prime contractor, and government stakeholders to align on scope, deliverables, timelines, decisions, dependencies, and risks.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly status reporting in accordance with client, prime contractor, and organizational requirements.
  • Contribute to additional human capital and management consulting initiatives as needed, including workforce retention, recruitment, organizational effectiveness, knowledge management, and continuous process improvement.
  • Active Secret security clearance and ability to maintain the clearance.
  • Experience in a client-facing consulting, professional services, program support, or comparable environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a workstream, small project, or cross-functional effort, including organizing work, managing competing priorities, coordinating contributors, and driving tasks to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing polished client deliverables and presenting or briefing to stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational discipline, and consistent follow-through on actions, deadlines, and commitments.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and translate them into practical next steps.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experience working in SharePoint.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection methods and analysis.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management capabilities, with experience collaborating across multiple teams and organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional background in Human Capital, Management Consulting, Change Management, Organizational Development, Organizational Effectiveness, Knowledge Management, Workforce Strategy, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting federal government or Department of Defense clients; Navy experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to project or task management practices such as work planning, schedule management, action tracking, risk and issue management, status reporting, and quality control.
  • Experience informally leading, mentoring, or coordinating the work of other team members.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI and Power Automate or similar data visualization and workflow automation tools.
