Job summary

County of Volusia is seeking a Construction Compliance Inspector to oversee HUD HQS-compliant inspections and contract enforcement for CDBG-DR funding. The role includes on-site visits, plan reviews, and coordinating with contractors to ensure timely and quality construction work.

The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of building codes, blueprints, and reporting; a high school diploma or GED and two years in related fields are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED is required and two years in building maintenance or project/contract management.
• Knowledge of HUD HQS and building codes is preferred.
• Experience with plan reviews and residential construction practices is advantageous.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret contracts and grants.

Responsibilities

• Monitor adherence to contract specifications and procurement policies.
• Conduct on-site inspections and complete HQS inspections.
• Track progress, contractor violations, and resolutions; maintain records.
• Review invoices for compliance with write-ups and plans.
• Coordinate field investigations with other agencies and departments.
• Attend regular work and adapt to operational needs, including relocation.
