Job summary

Umcelpaso is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Health Unit Coordinator to perform clerical and patient care tasks on the nursing unit. Responsibilities include medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and materials management under supervision of licensed staff.

The role supports visitors and health care teams, helps maintain a safe environment, and contributes to overall unit efficiency and patient comfort.

Job Summary

Performs general clerical and receptionist duties including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and/or word processing, and materials management functions on the nursing unit. Assists visitors, nursing staff, and members of the health care team. Assists in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Performs Nursing Assistant duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Management Associate.

14. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instruction and safety precautions.
15. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Work Experience

Nursing Assistant or Health Unit Coordinator experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Education and Training

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of the UMC HUC training program within 6 months of being in the position.
3. Completion of one of the following:
   
   • Formal Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or equivalent training program; or
   • Fundamental Nursing Registered Nurse training program; or
   • Graduate of an international Registered Nurse equivalent program.
