Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Health Unit Coordinator to perform clerical and bedside support on the nursing unit. You will maintain medical records, process orders, type documents, and assist visitors and the health care team under supervision of a registered nurse or licensed staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, completion of the UMC HUC program within six months, and current CPR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of UMC HUC training within 6 months.
• CNA certification is required; current CPR training is required.
• Experience as Nursing Assistant or Health Unit Coordinator is preferred.

Summary

Performs general clerical and receptionist duties including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and/or word processing, and materials management functions on the nursing unit. Assists visitors, nursing staff, and members of the health care team. Assists in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Performs Nursing Assistant duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Management Associate.

Work Experience

Nursing Assistant or Health Unit Coordinator experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

License/Registration/Certification

Certified Nursing Assistant required.

Current CPR training required.

Education and Training

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of the UMC HUC training program within 6 months of being in the position.

Completion Of One Of The Following

• Formal Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or equivalent training program; or
• Fundamental Nursing Registered Nurse training program; or
• Graduate of an international Registered Nurse equivalent program.
