Job summary

Valiant Integrated Services, LLC seeks a HST Fires SME to join our team, a full-time exempt position supporting the ARNG Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP). The role focuses on teaching, coaching, and mentoring ARNG commanders and staff in fires doctrine and Mission Command within LSCO and DATE context.

The candidate will coordinate with senior trainers, develop scenario inputs, and deliver FIRES WFF products and training objectives across the training pipeline.

Qualifications

• 20+ years in the Army (active/Reserve/NG) with 2+ years in exercise planning using JELC.
• Senior Army or ARNG Field Artillery leadership experience in training management, CTC, or combat ops preferred.
• Brigade staff principal experience within the Fires WFF (preferred).
• MTOE Battalion command experience at Brigade level (preferred).
• Experience in large-scale live/constructive exercises; doctrinal Fires WFF expert.

Responsibilities

• Replicate the FIRES WFF and serve as the Higher Command Fires staff lead during MDMP, STAFFEXs, and FTX/CPXs.
• Support CPX/FTX staff exercises and train Commanders/Staff in Operational Design and MDMP.
• Attend planning conferences and recommend METL objectives.
• Develop FIRES WFF inputs for road-to-war scenarios and opORDs.
• Coordinate with OST/EST and simulations teams to replicate opposing forces.
• Support establishment of a FIRES WFF battle rhythm with key meetings and boards.
• Synchronize and deliver daily ATOs; analyze and distribute FIRES WFF products for OPSUMS/INTSUMS/OPLANS.
• Prepare JELC products and MSEL for training objectives requiring manual injects.
• Role-play higher/adjacent units; participate in After Action Reviews.
• Serve as special project officer on MCTSP initiatives.

Job description

Valiant is looking for a HST Fires SME to join our team! This position is a full time Exempt (salary) position, supporting the ARNG Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP). The Higher Command Support Team Fires SME will teach, coach, train, and mentor ARNG Division and Brigade Commanders and Staff counterparts in the philosophy of Mission Command, the art and science of fires doctrinal foundations within the Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) to include Multi-Domain Operations and Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) context . May support work originating from any/all the MTC locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Replicate the Fires Warfighting Function (WFF) and serve as the Higher Command (HICOM) Fires staff principle during the MDMP, STAFFEXs, and FTX or CPXs as well as the intervening periods between events while working with other senior WFF subject matter experts (SMEs).
• Support pre-exercise (CPX/FTX) staff exercises (STAFFEX) and academic/instructional opportunities assisting in training Commanders and Staff in Operational Design, the Operations Process, Multi-Domain Operations, the Military Decision Making Process, Command Post Operations, R ole-Duties-Functions of Command Post Personnel, and other FIRES WFF associated topics to meet Commander’s training objectives. Prepare units to effectively conduct command and control processes, facilitating the synchronization of all FIRES WFF requirements and capabilities in accordance with the commander’s intent.
• Attend all planning conferences and provide recommendations for METL derived training objectives and overarching training concept.
• Develop the FIRES WFF inputs to and support general development of the overarching “road-to-war” scenario to include higher headquarters TACSOPS, PSOPS, and KM SOPS; WARNORDS, OPORDS, and FRAGORDS in accordance with established timelines.
• Coordinate with Officer Senior Trainer (OST) / Enlisted Senior Trainer (EST) and Simulation Support Teams to ensure accurate replication of the opposing forces, the training audience, and notional echelons above Brigade (or Division) higher and adjacent units.
• Support the establishment of a tactical battle-rhythm from the FIRES WFF perspective consisting of key HICOM meetings, boards, and working groups that drive training unit Mission Command C2 processes. HICOM battle rhythm events will include Battlefield Update Briefings; Commander’s Update Briefings; Targeting Meetings; Information Collection Synchronization Meetings; Sustainment Boards, Protection Boards, etc.
• Synchronize, prepare, and deliver daily Air Tasking Orders (ATO); Analyze and distribute Fires WFF products/injects to support publication of Operational Summaries (OPSUMS), Intelligence Summaries (INTSUMS); Operations Plans (OPLANS) and OPORDs; WARNORDS and FRAGORDS.
• Prepare and issue all Joint Exercise Lifecyle (JELC) Products in analog format, and digitally via the appropriate Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS) (CPCE, CPOF, DCGS-A, AFATDS, TAIS, AMDWS, JCR, etc.).
• Prepare FIRES WFF inputs to and support development of a Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) for non-simulation supported training objectives requiring manual injects to stimulate the Training Unit.
• Prepare all JELC related products to ensure robust replication, and immersion of the training audience within a Multi-Domain Operational Environment and resulting in an exercise that sets the context for doctrinally precise, realistic, demanding, and high-tempo Unified Land Operations.
• Role-play notional higher and adjacent units throughout the exercise.
• Prepare, submit input, and participate in informal and formal exercise After Action Reviews.
• At the discretion of HST Team Lead or Direction of MCTSP, serve as special project officer on MCTSP initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Active Secret

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: MS or MA degree, subject immaterial. Graduate of a military Senior Service College, preferred.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a background of at least twenty (20) years of experience in the Army (active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard) and a minimum of two (2) years of experience with exercise planning using the JELC process.
• Must have senior Army or ARNG Field Artillery leadership experience in training management backgrounds, Combat Training Center, and operational or combat experience (preferred).
• Individuals who have successfully served as a Brigade staff principle (Division or Corps staff principle, preferred) within the specific WFF (Fires) they represent.
• Must have successfully commanded at the MTOE Battalion (Brigade level command preferred) within their respective WFF .
• Experienced in large-scale live and constructive exercises, a doctrinal expert within the Fires WFF, and familiar with Army Command and Control Information Systems.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication, problem solving skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Position: Office environment, occasionally outdoors. Occasional exposure to natural conditions existing at different locations around the US.
• Work Week: Monday-Friday (may vary based on mission requirements)
• Work Hours: 0800 - 1700 (may vary based on mission requirements)
• Overtime: As Required
• Travel: As Required
