Job summary

C2O Group is seeking a Safety Specialist to promote and enforce HSSE standards at our client site in Port Sulphur, LA. The role is hybrid with on-site time required.

The candidate will lead pre-shift safety meetings, perform stop-work actions, and prepare HSSE reports. You will oversee site observations, hazard hunts, and on-site safety trainings, ensuring compliance with client and C2O EHS programs.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; certifications are a plus
• Minimum 10 years in a Safety Specialist role in an industrial environment
• Knowledge of regulatory HSSE requirements and management systems
• Ability to walk long distances or stand for long periods
• Reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

• Attend and document pre-shift safety meetings.
• Perform and document stop-work actions as needed.
• Prepare reports for business unit and HSSE regarding performance.
• Conduct site observations and document corrective actions.
• Organize hazard hunts and document resolutions.
• Deliver on-site safety orientation presentations and training.
• Verify compliance with Client and C2O EHS program and regulatory reporting.
• Monitor and report safety targets.
• Ensure training is in place and schedule new training as required.
• Weekly sampling reviews of C2O JSA’s.
• Participate in incident investigations and prepare notifications/reports.
• Communicate HSSE expectations to team members.
• Review incidents and near misses and assist in corrective actions.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Attend and document pre-shift safety meetings with C2O team members.
• Perform and document stop -work actions as needed.
• Prepare reports for business unit and HSE regarding company performance.
• Perform work site observation and reviews and document corrective actions.
• Organize hazard hunts, document resolution of found issues.
• Perform presentation and training on site specific safety orientation.
• Verify compliance with Client and C2O EHS program and regulatory reporting documents.
• Monitor and report of safety targets.
• Verification employees have required training in place and schedule training for existing and new employees as required.
• Perform a weekly “sampling” review of C2O JSA’s
• Participate in investigation and follow-up of incidents/accidents; prepare notifications/reports for communication of significant incidents to company project/functional management per project incident reporting procedures.
• Communicate HSSE expectations to team members.
• Review and document all Incidents and near misses, communicate these to the BU and HSSE, assist in developing corrective actions asneeded.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, ANDQUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree Safety, Environmental, Industrial Engineering/ Technology or a related field is a plus.
• Industry certifications are a plus (CHSO, OHST, ASP, CSP, Safe Land/IADC Rig Pass, First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30 hour, LOTO, Confined Space, Hazcom).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Safety Specialist role in an industrial environment.
• Must be knowledgeable of regulatory requirements and experienced in HSSE Management systems.
• Ability to walk long distances and/or standing for long periods of time.
• Must have reliabletransportation.
