Job summary

QSL is seeking a Safety Adviser to oversee health, safety, and environmental programs at its marine terminals across North America. The role covers ERP deployment, incident response, and promoting best HSSE practices with terminal management and local teams.

Ideal candidates will have 5–8 years in HSSE, a related college degree, strong communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to travel to terminals as needed to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • College degree in a related field (industrial hygiene, industrial relations, industrial engineering, or equivalent).
  • 5–8 years of HSSE experience implementing processes and programs in maritime, mining, manufacturing, or cargo handling sectors.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Knowledge of applicable health, safety, security and environmental regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support operational teams in applying HSSE standards and procedures.
  • Assist in developing and implementing safe work methods.
  • Support investigations following HSSE incidents or accidents.
  • Maintain security and emergency plans and conduct drills and training.
  • Monitor procedures in the field and ensure alignment with operations.
  • Contribute to HSSE risk assessments and SOP alignment.
  • Assist site managers in action plans to reduce risks and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate HSSE activities and trainings across sites.
