Job summary

ABB is seeking an HSE Specialist in the United States to strengthen Health, Safety and Environment performance within an assigned area. You will lead incident reporting, investigations, and risk reduction initiatives while aligning with ABB's safety programs and standards.

You will collaborate with the HSE Manager and site leadership to embed best practices, deliver data-driven insights, and drive behavioral change across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Health/Safety or Environment preferred.
  • Associate degree with minimum 1 year HSE experience.
  • HS diploma/GED with minimum 3 years HSE experience.

Responsibilities

This position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities

In this role as HSE Specialist, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in your assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Each day, you will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Reporting HSE incidents to the management and relevant stakeholders and taking appropriate actions.
  • Facilitating, assisting, and providing guidance on incident investigations to learn better ways for mitigating risks.
  • Providing feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within their own unit and across ABB.
  • Supporting and driving behavioral change through the local implementation of group-wide and business-specific performance improvement programs and practices.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor degree in Health/Safety or Environment preferred OR Associate degree PLUS minimum 1 year HSE experience OR HS diploma/GED PLUS minimum 3 years HSE experience.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Complianceincluding local HSE regulations and of most widely used international standards
  • Knowledge of Electrical Safety Program Implementation, a plus
  • Advanced skills in database management systems, MS Office
  • Professional certifications (CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP) a plus.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
