Job summary

IPEX is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to support the Asheville, NC extrusion plant. You will maintain and improve the HSE management system, ensure regulatory compliance, lead incident investigations, and drive continuous safety improvements with site leaders.

In this role you will develop training, manage environmental reporting, participate in audits, and partner with operations to implement robust risk controls, fostering a strong safety culture across the site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in health, safety & environment roles within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication, relationship building and training delivery skills.
• Solid computer skills and technical aptitude.
• Proven ability to influence others, drive change, and collaborate across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve HSE programs, procedures, training, and work instructions.
• Promote employee engagement in HSE initiatives and foster a proactive safety culture.
• Conduct gap assessments, support audits, and develop corrective action plans to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance.
• Lead and support incident, injury, near-miss, and environmental investigations, ensuring timely follow-up of corrective actions.
• Manage regulatory and workers' compensation reporting requirements and support claims management activities.
• Support Joint Health and Safety Committee initiatives and site risk management processes.
• Partner with operational teams to develop and improve site-specific controls, programs, and safe work practices.
• Assess proposed changes to equipment, materials, and processes to identify potential HSE impacts and recommend controls.
• Maintain HSE documentation, databases, records, policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Support environmental compliance activities and maintain HSE performance metrics, reports, and KPIs.
• Administer hazardous materials programs and related training requirements.
• Provide ongoing guidance to site stakeholders and escape significant HSE concerns as required
