Job summary

ABB in Puerto Rico (Arecibo Plant) seeks an experienced HSE specialist to enhance health, safety and environmental performance onsite. You will lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement risk mitigation while driving behavioral changes through ABB programs.

Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred, with OSHA certifications and SAP/Intelex/Gensuite experience helping you succeed. The role reports to the HSE Manager and involves collaborating with plant operations,

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in a plant or industrial setting.
• Optional ISO 14001 & 45001 certifications in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Report HSE incidents to management and relevant stakeholders, initiating corrective actions.
• Facilitate and guide incident investigations to identify root causes and implement risk mitigation.
• Share feedback and lessons learned with management and employees, leveraging best practices from within ABB and across the industry.
• Support and drive behavioral change through local implementation of group-wide HSE improvement programs.
• Monitor workplace conditions and recommend improvements to enhance occupational health and safety.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities to ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA).
• Develop and implement training programs related to safety practices, emergency response, and environmental management.
