Job summary

Maersk is seeking a full-time Safety Specialist to plan, develop, and coordinate the safety and health components for our facilities in the United States. The role focuses on reducing accidents, maintaining OSHA compliance, and leading safety programs across operations.

You will conduct investigations, audits, and training, while collaborating with regulators and vendors to promote a strong safety culture. This is an on-site, day-to-day role with a steady schedule.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state and local OSHA regulations.
• Planning and organizational skills.
• Exposure to Hazmat environments and related nuances.
• Detail oriented and a team player.
• Experience tracking incidents and injuries.
• MS Office familiarity.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of safety experience in a relevant industry.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve safety programs within facilities.
• Stay current with regulatory requirements and update SOPs as needed.
• Conduct accident investigations and assess risk management data.
• Perform safety audits and inspections to identify hazards.
• Administer forklift operator certification program.
• Manage hazardous materials and environmental programs.
• Promote safety awareness with training and communications.
• Develop wellness programs and health education.
• Ensure long-term safety compliance and startup culture.
• Build and manage the Health and Safety budget.
• Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and safety documentation.
• Share best practices across facilities.
• Act as on-site liaison to regulators, insurers, and vendors.
• Prepare safety metric reports and benchmark against peers.
• Develop and monitor safety policies and training programs.
• Verify inspections and observation programs (PUSH).
• Document root causes and corrective actions after incidents.
• Conduct employee training and update Safety Manual/Board.
