The Walsh Group is seeking an HSE Manager for the Transportation Division in Austin, TX. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining health, safety and environmental processes across projects, conducting audits, and coordinating with subcontractors and management.

Responsibilities include accident investigations, training, policy compliance, and weekly updates to EHS leadership. The candidate should have 5+ years in construction EHS and a related degree, with CHST certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent CHST Certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction EHS field.
• Excellent communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and ability to prioritize, organize and manage time.
• Knowledge of regulations and standards as well as hazard recognition and injury management skills.
• Some travel required.
• Required to stand, sit, walk, and/or climb stairs or ladders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a site-specific EHS plan in coordination with the Project Manager and senior management.
• Coordinate subcontractor EHS protocols including vendors and owner personnel.
• Coordinate project EHS programs with subcontractors.
• Plan and coordinate work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and manage losses from injuries or property damages.
• Coordinate quarterly on-site EHS audits.
• Inspect project site, equipment and processes for regulatory and policy compliance.
• Conduct accident investigations and incident reporting for review by Project Management.
• Escort injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation.
• Advise on Industrial Hygiene protocols; perform Environmental Monitoring.
• Manage Drug-Free Workplace Policy and testing.
• Provide EHS training and orientation to company personnel.
• Administer the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.
• Provide weekly EHS updates to EHS Leadership.

We are currently seeking a HSE Manager for our Transportation Division, in Austin, TX. The HSE Manager assists with inspections, accident investigations, conducts safety meetings, and the overall implementation of the health, safety and environmental (EHS) processes. The HSE Manager shall be responsible for compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs and other reports pertaining to safety required by the contractor, client, Federal, State and Local regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works directly with the Project Manager and the management team to develop and implement an effective site-specific EHS plan, while adhering to all corporate, divisional, and regional EHS programs and processes.
• Assists Project Managers and EHS Managers/Specialists in the coordination of subcontractor EHS protocols, including vendors and owner personnel working on company project(s).
• Coordinates project EHS programs with subcontractors.
• Assists in planning and coordinating work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages.
• Coordinates quarterly comprehensive on-site EHS audits.
• Periodically inspects and evaluates the project site, equipment and processes for compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations, as well as company and owner policies and procedures.
• Conducts accident investigations and completes incident reporting for Project Management review.
• Accompanies injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation.
• Ensures all EHS protocols are followed.
• Advises Project Management on Industrial Hygiene protocols; performs Environmental Monitoring.
• Manages Company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, ensuring proper testing for Pre-Employment, Vehicle Authorization, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Random, and Follow-Up.
• Provides training and education to Company personnel regarding EHS requirements, including coordination of new hire EHS orientation programs.
• Administers the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.
• Completes and provides a weekly EHS update to EHS Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction EHS field
• Excellent communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and ability to prioritize, organize and manage time
• Knowledge of regulations and standards as well as hazard recognition and injury management skills
