Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. is offering a Summer 2027 HSE Internship for the California Buildings district in Glendale, CA.

You will monitor and assist with HSE plans, participate in training, and support site safety initiatives on real construction projects. The role requires pursuing a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, strong communication, and the ability to navigate a construction site.

Qualifications

• Working toward a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
• A safety designation is preferred or in progress.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and craft workers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to learn new tools quickly.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist with implementation of the project HSE Plan and environmental plan and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and assist in conducting project-specific HSE training.
• Provide project team with HSE information and trends and help create action plans.
• Assist with hazard identification tools development and implementation.
• Conduct HSE inspections and verify corrective actions are completed.
• Support emergency response plan implementation and monitor site security requirements.
• Gather and review trade documentation and monitor safety compliance of trade contractors.
• Verify equipment and tool inspections are conducted and documented.
• Notify stakeholders of incidents and assist investigations.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with project teams and stakeholders.

Join us as a HSE Studentfor our California Buildingsdistrict, within our US Buildings sector for a summer internship. Depending on your assigned project as a HSE Internship- Summer 2027, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

• Monitors and assists with implementation of the project HSE Plan, environmental plan, regulatory requirements,and any other safe work practices.
• Identifies and assists in conducting project specific HSE training.
• Provides project team with project specific HSE information and trends and assists to create action plans.
• Assists with the development and implementation of hazard identification tools.
• Conducts project HSE inspections and verifies that corrective actions have been implemented.
• Supports project teams with the implementation of the emergency response plan and monitors project securityrequirements.
• Gathers, reviews, and provides input on trade documentation and monitors trade contractor safety compliance.
• Verifies that equipment and tool inspections are being conducted and documented as per requirements.
• Notifies appropriate stakeholders of any incident and supporting the investigation.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships.

Qualifications

• Working toward Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Working toward safety designation.
• Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve conflicts with craft workers.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to effectively problem solve.
• Ability to learn construction processes and terminology.
• Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
• Possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to travel to and from the job site.
• Able to work full time from May to August or September in Los Angeles, CA
• Able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs.
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test conducted by a third party.

The estimated hourly rate for this role is $20.10,based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
