ANDRITZ in Neenah, WI seeks an HSE Generalist to assist in creating and communicating the overall safety and environmental program, aligning with IOS 45001 and ISO 14001, and coordinating with HSE personnel in Appleton and Green Bay.

You will work with plant operations leaders to develop local programs, perform inspections, and support incident investigations, training, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

  • HSE experience in a manufacturing environment; knowledge of HSE regulations and program requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; capable of producing reports and presentations.
  • Willingness to travel to North America locations; able to climb stairs, ladders and lift < 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain a local HSE program including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Identify hazards, monitor safety of systems and document findings in official records.
  • Coordinate required HSE training and support incident investigations and KPI reporting.
  • Assist in environmental reporting, waste management and regulatory compliance.
  • Support site leadership with HSE initiatives and ensure proper documentation and audits.

Job description

Reporting to the Regional Manager HSE PFR NA, this position is responsible for assisting with creating and communicating the overall safety and environmental program while identifying applicable regulations and risks in the Neenah, WI facility while working directly with the HSE personnel for Appleton and Green Bay. The position will closely interact with Plant operations leaders and production personnel.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
  • Works closely with functional leaders to develop, implement, and maintain a written workplace HSE Program at the local level. This will include IOS 45001 and ISO 14001 Certifications.
  • Assists with establishing, and implementing HSE programs to assure the highest possible degree of workplace safety for employees, contractors, and guests while enabling us to reach our business goals.
  • Conducts or directs efforts to identify hazards thru monitoring to evaluate the safety of company systems and processes. Record and document findings thru appropriate Andritz systems and forms.
  • Serves as a resource for administering required training thru the company’s Safety management program.
  • Assist in the preparation of incident investigations, reporting, recordkeeping, and metrics evaluation including customer generated information requests. Complete the monthly HSE Key Performance Indicators spreadsheet.
  • Facilitate regular workplace and equipment inspections and audits including accurate documentation and timely closure of corrective actions. Maintain the plant’s Safety Action Log.
  • Assists with establishing clear and visible safety and environmental awareness efforts at the local plant site level.
  • Develops and implements appropriate emergency response systems in conjunction with the local plant site.
  • Assist location management with general HSE related activities, reviews, and initiatives to support implementation and improvement. Heavy concentration in assuring documentation that meets corporate and regulatory requirements. Complete plant’s federal, state, and city environmental reports.
  • Assist to implement pollution prevention programs at the local level.
  • Assists with managing environmental processes to assure proper waste management and minimization practices in accordance with RCRA and TSCA regulatory requirements. Update the plant’s ESG Cockpit Tool with environmental data.
  • Assists with managing environmental processes to assure proper surface and ground water management and spill and contingency planning. Perform periodic reviews and required reporting.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.

  • Understand all applicable safety and environmental requirements and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, employees, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Must have superior confidence and comfort levels in 1/1 and group settings.
  • Regulatory knowledge and experience working under US regulations while capable of learning new regulations and applying this knowledge to achieve results would be beneficial.
  • Must be able to demonstrate extreme multi-tasking capability and professionalism in a high-pressure environment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • HSE experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the paper industry would be beneficial. Strong Knowledge of HSE Regulations & Program requirements preferred.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to generate concise and accurate reports and presentation materials. The Safety Generalist may attend professional development classes/seminars to maintain proficiency for safety and environmental compliance.
  • May require travel to North America locations with Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and lift < 35 lbs.
