Job summary

Safety Management Group, LLC in Lebanon, Indiana is seeking an HSE Advisor with OCIP experience to lead the Contractor Health, Safety and Environmental program on site. The role focuses on LOss control for OCIP, client- contractor liaison, and CHSEMP implementation across trades.

Qualifications include a degree in Environmental Health and Safety with 5+ years of related experience, OCIP knowledge, and strong skills in incident investigations, root cause analysis, audits, and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP).
  • Experience with program development and claims management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply codes, standards, regulations, and laws.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the CHSEMP program on site.
  • Serve as Loss Control Representative for OCIP and manage claims support.
  • Act as liaison between client and contractors for HSE guidance.
  • Support HSE planning, onboarding, and CHSEMP implementation.
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses for recordable events.
  • Perform contractor audits, field inspections, and HSE evaluations.
  • Provide OSHA/IOSHA interpretation and safety compliance support.
  • Review HSE work plans, JHAs, permits, and emergency plans.
  • Coordinate with environmental SMEs to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and drive corrective actions.

SMG seeks an HSE Advisor with OCIP experience in Lebanon, Indiana.

The HSE Advisor position will provide leadership for all aspects of the site Contractor Health, Safety, and Environmental (CHSEMP) program, including the following

  • Serve as Loss Control Representative for OCIP, overseeing claims support and contractor compliance, including FROI management.
  • Act as liaison between client and contractors, delivering HSE guidance and stakeholder communication.
  • Support HSE planning, contractor onboarding, and CHSEMP program implementation.
  • Conduct incident investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for recordable and LIFE events.
  • Perform contractor audits, field inspections, and HSE performance evaluations.
  • Provide OSHA/IOSHA regulatory interpretation and safety compliance support.
  • Review HSE work plans, JHAs, permits, and emergency action plans.
  • Coordinate with environmental SMEs to ensure compliance without directing contractor means/methods.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and drive corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure contractor qualification, onboarding compliance, and alignment with site-specific HSE requirements.
Requirements
  • A degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP).
  • Experience with program development and claims management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply in practice, construction, and environmental information from all codes, standards, regulations, Federal and State laws, and applicable regulatory documents.
  • Experience and a general understanding of industrial hygiene applications and process contractor HSE Advisor management requirements.
  • Capable of providing contractor HSE Advisor support to various trades/services, including (but not limited to) facility maintenance, laboratories, housekeeping, and project construction.
  • Have thorough knowledge of lead/asbestos regulations and hazardous waste handling.
  • Prior experience/knowledge of risk management, statistical methods, and behavior-based contractor HSE Advisor concepts.
  • Prior experience in program development and technical writing.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with statistical control methods.
