This role involves working closely with the head coach to implement training programs, develop players’ skills, and promote teamwork and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, including skill development and game strategies.
• Provide instruction and feedback to student‑athletes to enhance their performance and understanding of the game.
• Help organize and manage team logistics, including travel arrangements, game schedules, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with the head coach to develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship among players.
• Monitor the academic progress of student‑athletes and support their personal and athletic growth.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
• Assist in scouting and evaluating opponents to prepare the team for competition.
• Attend all practices, games, and team events, including off‑season training and conditioning sessions.
• Uphold the policies and regulations of Kittitas Secondary School and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA).

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, particularly in softball.
• Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, players, and parents.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Must pass a background check and comply with all school district policies.
• A commitment to promoting a positive, inclusive, and equitable environment for all student‑athletes.
