Job summary

Owen County Board of Education seeks an Athletic Director for the high school to oversee all interscholastic activities and supervise coaches, ensuring compliance with district and KHSA policies. Responsibilities include scheduling, budgeting, and fostering strong school/community relations.

The role reports to the High School Principal and requires a Kentucky Principal Certificate, prior teaching experience, and athletic involvement at the high school level. Salary set annually with the board.

Qualifications

• Valid Kentucky Teaching and Secondary Principal Certificate.
• Three years successful teaching experience.
• Experience as department chairman or other administrative experience desired.
• Three years H/S athletic involvement.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and administers the overall program of interscholastic/intramural athletics for the high school pursuant to Board and KHSAA policies.
• Serves as liaison to the feeder middle school athletic program.
• Recommends employment and assignment of athletic coaches to the principal.
• Fosters good school/community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic/intramural events.
• Coordinates the securing of game officials and home events.
• Develops rules and regulations governing conduct of teams and coaches in line with policies.
• Enforces eligibility requirements for participation in each sport and verifies athlete eligibility.
• Supervises coaches in budget preparation and manages athletic accounts.
