ProPay HR is seeking a seasoned Payroll Implementation Specialist to lead new client onboarding, configure payroll systems, and guide a smooth transition to managed payroll services.

You will manage full-cycle implementations, review client data, ensure multi-state compliance, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver accurate, timely payroll solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience implementing payroll systems or leading payroll conversions.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing, including earnings, deductions, benefits and tax withholding.
• Experience with payroll platforms such as Paycor, Paylocity, ADP, Paychex, Paycom, or similar systems.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Payroll Implementation Specialist to manage new client payroll implementations, ensure accurate payroll system setups, and help deliver a smooth transition to our managed payroll services.

What You'll Do

As our Payroll Implementation Specialist, you'll play a key role in onboarding new clients, configuring payroll systems, and ensuring a seamless transition to ProPay HR's payroll services.

• Manage full-cycle payroll implementations for new and transitioning clients, from initial setup through successful first payroll processing.
• Gather and review client payroll information, including employee data, earnings, deductions, benefits, tax configurations, and payroll schedules.
• Configure payroll systems to support accurate processing, including multi-state payroll requirements, tax jurisdictions, and pay structures.
• Coordinate payroll data conversions, imports, system testing, and parallel payroll runs to ensure accuracy before go-live.
• Identify and troubleshoot payroll setup discrepancies, tax configuration issues, and data conversion errors.
• Collaborate with clients and internal payroll, tax, HRIS, and implementation teams throughout the onboarding process.
• Provide client training and guidance on payroll processes, system functionality, and best practices.
• Maintain accurate implementation documentation, track project milestones, and ensure timely completion of client onboarding.

What You Bring

• Required: Hands-on experience implementing payroll systems or leading payroll conversions and new client setups.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing, including payroll calculations, earnings, deductions, benefits, and tax withholding.
• Experience working with payroll platforms such as Paycor, Paylocity, ADP, Paychex, Paycom, or similar systems.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements, including multi-state payroll.
• Experience with payroll data conversions, system configurations, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and client relationship skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client implementations and deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to work hybrid in Evanston, IL (three days onsite, two days remote).
• Previous experience with a third-party payroll provider, payroll service bureau, or managed payroll services organization is highly preferred.
