Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Associate Director, HR Benefits and Compliance Programs, this position assists with administration and maintenance of benefits programs for GGC employees and retirees. The position has the latitude to consider course of action within the constraints of well-defined college practices and policies under managerial direction and requires an application of theories and principles related to benefits administration.

Responsibilities

1 -
Serve as the primary liaison with external organizations/governmental entities, third party benefits providers as well as Shared Services Center on benefits related issues. This includes, but is not limited to, correspondence and matters relating to health care continuation of coverage, retirement, Social Security validation, and employment verifications.

Provide quality customer service to employees and managers by responding to employee inquiries regarding benefit plans. Research, resolve and respond to all benefit issues related to payment of benefits, benefit plan eligibility, status changes and enrollment in a timely and accurate manner.

Monitor/audit all benefit-related payroll deductions and adjustments, ensuring accuracy and working with HR Analyst when corrections are necessary.

Advise personnel and former personnel about benefit programs, procedures, and changes.

Support all facets of the benefit open enrollment process which may include system testing and communication development/reviews. Assist with the development and delivery of programs related to benefits to ensure employees understand their options and can make informed decisions.

Coordinate the annual benefits fair including coordinating with external vendors to include planning, contacting in-house resources for space reservations and set-up.

7 -
Responsible for preparing metrics reports and providing analytical support for initiatives and projects as needed.

8 -
Administers the tuition assistance program (TAP). Works with the Registrar¿s Office for enrollment decisions. Requests enrollment data from source to determine employees¿ eligibility each semester. Assist employees as well as other USG schools in determining if TAP classes and enrollments are appropriate and consistent with BOR policy. Makes participating employees aware when the IRS limit for Employer Provided Education Assistance is exceeded. Responsible for submission of TAP reporting requirements by semester to Shared Services Center.

Provides support to the overall functions of HR Benefits and Compliance as necessary.

Required Qualifications

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
Two or more years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with automated HRIS/benefits system in a Shared Services environment.
Experience working with employee benefit and/or retirement programs and understanding of laws, policies and regulations.
Experience with administering employee benefit processes and claims procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to share knowledge and expertise effectively with others.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Skill in writing concise, logical grammatically correct reports and correspondence dealing with complex subject matter.
Knowledge of state and federal benefits law and ability to keep abreast of constantly changing USG regulations and federal and state laws.
Experience working with employee benefit and/or retirement programs and interpreting and explaining laws, policies and regulations.
Self-starter with strong attention to details, commitment to accuracy, ability to establish priorities and use sound judgment.
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with faculty, staff and co-workers and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with subordinates and managers.
Must have a willingness to delve into a problem, identify the root cause and develop solutions.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence, high ethical standards, and maintenance of confidentiality.
