Qualifications

  • Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems such as Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Support enrollments, life event changes, terminations, and other benefits transactions.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment activities and communication.

  • Serve as escalated resource for inquiries on benefits, leave, disability, and time-off programs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve complex cases.

A Day in the Life Medtronic's HR Shared Services Team helps deliver HR support and services at scale by executing standardized HR processes, partnering with HR Business Medtronic’s HR Shared Services Team is helping define the future of HR by delivering scalable, high-quality support that enhances the employee experience and drives operational excellence. This role is essential to ensuring accurate, timely, and professional service across benefits, leave, and disability programs while supporting continuous improvement, automation, and smarter ways of working. Located at Medtronic's headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, this role is onsite four days per week. The HR Shared Services Specialist plays an important role in delivering a high-quality employee experience through accurate, timely, and professional HR support. This position partners across HR, payroll, and external vendors to support benefits, leave, disability, and related programs while helping ensure data integrity, operational consistency, and strong service delivery. In addition to managing day-to-day support, this role contributes to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen processes, enhance efficiency, and support the evolving future of HR through smarter systems, documentation, and automation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Administer U.S. health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, FSA, HSA, and related offerings
  • Support employee enrollments, qualifying life event changes, terminations, and other benefits transactions
  • Assist with annual open enrollment activities, including employee communications, system updates, issue resolution and process support
  • Administer disability and leave programs, including short-term disability, long-term disability, FMLA, and other time‑off policies
  • Serve as an escalated resource for employee and manager inquiries related to benefits, leave, disability, and time‑off programs
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to research and resolve complex cases
  • Audit transactions and data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
  • Generate reports and support compliance reviews, process documentation, and HR projects
  • Identify and help implement process improvements, system enhancements, and service delivery efficiencies, including opportunities for automation
  • Support testing, issue tracking, and updates related to HR systems and workflows
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and 2+ years of experience in employee benefits, leave, disability or HR service delivery processes, or an advanced degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience administering U.S. benefits and leave programs, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and ACA‑related processes
  • Experience supporting employee benefits administration in a shared services or HR operations environment
  • Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems such as Workday
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Automate, with the ability to analyze data, build reports, streamline workflows, and support automation efforts that improve operational efficiency
  • Excellent communication, customer service, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Experience working independently while partnering effectively across HR teams, payroll, and vendors
  • Experience working with benefits carriers, third‑party administrators, or other external vendors
  • Experience with process improvement, testing, or system configuration activities
  • Experience creating SOPs, knowledge articles, or process documentation
  • Familiarity with multi‑state benefits or leave administration
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. §214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$64,000.00 - $96,000.00

This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week:
