Job summary

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is seeking a Payroll Technician (Human Resource Technician 2) to support payroll processing and HR transactions for the Alaska Marine Highway System.

Under supervision, you will ensure timely and accurate payroll, leave, and personnel actions, and provide information to managers, employees, and the public. Alaska residency is required to apply.

Qualifications

• Six months of entry technical level experience in human resources work equivalent to a HR Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
• Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
• One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university equals one year.

Responsibilities

• Process, certify, review and audit payroll and personnel actions for the Alaska Marine Highway System (AHMS).
• Provide technical information and assistance to managers, employees and the public.
• Ensure payroll, personnel and leave transactions are completed in accordance with applicable rules, bargaining unit provisions, statutes and SOPs.
